Thanks

Yikes, it's been a while but I think it's Racing Dynamics. I had it anodized black.

Looks a LOT like mine, purchased from BMP Design, eons ago

I'll see if I can find a photo, but BMP Design is no longer, unfortunately :(

I was thinking RD, but your right. Their bar looks nothing like the one on the car. Didn't the BMP bars use square tube?
too much time lol

Mine looks exactly like that, rectangular tube and chrome plated end plates, which also look identical :-k

Even the hardware looks the same :-"

I'll dig up a pic, unfortunately been consumed with jury duty, Superior Court, no less :-({|=

the plates are aluminum and anodized black, like the bar (hard to tell with the direct sun photo) but I have no idea who made it now.

Wow, that still looks like a dead ringer for mine :-?

But my plates are definitely chrome plated steel, and they need some refreshing as well :-"

I'm sure I have more shots somewhere, but here's one

Did BMP make an aluminum brace too?

The bar is aluminum and about a 3rd as thick as wide, with the exception of material the ends look identical.

Well, back in the day (when they were still in business  ) They offered many different varieties, but often to fit different chassis, not the same model, per se :-?

But I should clarify [-o<

The bar itself is aluminum, probably a 3:1 width to thickness ratio, which I could also measure, of course :-"

But the end plates are chrome plated steel, as supplied from BMP, and I put a magnet on one just to make sure =D>

And, get this, I have a few old catalogs, gimme a little time to dig one out, scan that page so we can compare \:D/

Luckily, I can scan and don't have to print, since the printer needs ink ](*,)

More to follow

CSGuy, here's a snapshot of the page from the BMP Design catalog from eons ago :-"

We have style "D", or at least I do \:D/

But no EPL, mine was an even earlier design

And maybe just for a sanity check, why not put a magnet on one of the mounting plates to see if they really are aluminum and not steel :-k

Caps look the same, but mine are anodized black. From the top, the bar looks the same but the edges are rounded smooth like the RD bar. I'd get a picture but have to drive to the car

it looks more like the BMP bar but there seems to be enough difference that I just don't know.

Hey Bobbo,
Thanks for the heads up. It looks identical to your BMP bar and definitely not the RC bar I have a receipt for.
Still don't know about the caps as I didn't have a magnet but they had a bit a grain, like extruded aluminum can get and had been anodized.

keeping the single-row chain turned into a bit of pain but I scored a set of double-wound valve springs and went for it.
The only BMW pistons I found were superseded to s38 US spec. CP made a set to match the original euro spec...25% lighter was a plus

Soon...all that will be left is installing the stereo and new speakers.
Thinking the VDO TR712UB-BUK head unit. The Continental with orange light seems more period correct but I kind like the VDO blue

After 4 years of crawling through this car, the only bad spot was the lower passenger quarter. soon that and the little crease in the4 nose where it looked like it rolled into a workbench will be gone.
