Things look a little different....

Post by bcadmin »

Bimmer Fans,

I'm sure you're wondering why the forum looks so different. I moved the forum to Amazon's Web Services as well as updated to the latest version. We were VERY behind and I had to address a number of security and performance concerns. This has been a to-do task for me for months and I finally took the time to get it done. The layout is a bit different as well and is due to my desire to stick with one of the standard style templates. This will enable me to do updates much easier and seamless. The older version had allot of customization that was nice, but also made simple updates a PITA.

I know change sucks but I hope the change wasn't too drastic and we all adjust.

Emails from the forum will probably fail for the next couple days while I migrate to AWS's Email system.

For the US folk, I hope you enjoy your Memorial weekend!!!
Brian F

Bravo! =D>
Thanks for "doing the needful", as our IT guys like to say

One new feature I noticed straight away:
Maximum filesize per attachment: 5 MiB.

That will help with modern photos! \:D/

Well done for getting it done Brian - another forum I belong to is forum5 for BMW 5 Series cars and they have been trying to 'update' for over a month now but it is looking as though the forum may not return. Lord alone knows what the issues are but it looks well buggered.

Great job Brian and thank you.

I wondered if I had reached another site by mistake! However the changes look great to me. Keep up the good work, Brian, BigCoupe is still the best E24 site out there

Maximum filesize per attachment: 5 MiB.
Hi @BCAdmin,
Would you mind taking a quick look at the settings for this one please?
I tried to upload a 3.4MB photo, but it was rejected as being too large.

I replicated the error. Let me dig in to find the cause of the issue

EDIT: This issue is fixed. Also added .heic files to the list of acceptable images

Brilliant, thanks!
Would you consider adding .docx, .xlsx & .pptx as well please?
The older formats are allowed (.doc, .xls & .ppt), so it would be great if their modern equivalents could be added too.

I actually did the opposite. The forum doesn't have the ability to scan files for viruses so I removed these.

Brian, thanks to you and any others who work so hard to keep bigcoupe running. =D> The site looks great, even if "a little different". Faster, too, I think.

I like that it goes directly to the forums without have the E24 history page pop up first.

Understood, but it's nice to not have to make the extra click on the "forums" tab. I like it as it is now.

Ok, I'm late to this party, but wanted to pile on the appreciation!
It looks great, and I find it easy on the eyes. I first noticed when that big blue shark appeared in my profile section. I was like, wait, I didn't upload anything.

Anyhow, many thanks. I am grateful for this forum and the "Person" who runs it!
Thanks,
