Hey Sharkski - I have a list of things I need. What year is that Euro e24?

Re: New part NLA - resumption of production - kind request
Hi Kamil - Here in the US, BMW told us very similar things about e9 parts. I have a friend in Atlanta who waited three years for a set of headlight grills, and finally gave up. Perhaps things are better in Europe.

Re: '83 633CSi - running so rich it stalls
Thanks a ton Ralph. I'm new to this particular car, and am learning about early BMW fuel injection.

Thanks a ton Ralph.
A follow-on question. What was the purpose behind adding the resistor?

Re: '83 633CSi - running so rich it stalls
I too have a rich running condition on my 1979 635csi, and would like to conduct the sensor test that Ralph suggests. The suggestion is to check resistance between the sensor post and a ground to obtain a measurement that is then compared to the measurement at the ECU. It looks to me like the sensor...

Did not know MM will make parts for their transmissions rebuilds. Explains why they still advertise them.

Re: Coolant level connector
I would buy the housing from Pelican parts. It is highly likely that all of the cars that use that same style of plug (per post above, in addition to the e24; the e32/34/31 & 36) all use the same VDO sender. If so, the Pelican housing will clip onto the VDO sender. No cutting of wires, no solder...

Re: 5 speed needed
I know Don swears by Pete's Gear for his differential rebuilds; have not discussed transmissions with him. I've heard from two other sources I consider to be reliable that parts to rebuild these transmissions are impossible to find. Several years ago I rented a spec e30 from Drivegear. Their main bu...

Re: Coolant level connector
If you are willing to perhaps splice and/or solder, you might try Tyco products and see whether they have a housing that would suit your needs. This may seem odd, but remember that BMW does not make the senders - they buy them from VDO. So there should be a variety of plugs that fit onto the sender....

Re: Fresh Build 1978 633CSI
So, rather than rebuilding the engine that came with the car, consider getting into an M30b35 engine. Specifically, the engine from a 87-92 735 or 88-89 635CSi, 87-92 e34, Motronic 1.3. This is a very common upgrade in the e9 world (where I spent a lot of my time.) Lots more torque, and the b35 mate...

Yeah, so first road test and the clutch pedal goes to the floor and stays there. Luckily, I have a clutch slave in my stash.

Seat cover vendors?
I am bringing back to life a 79 Euro635csi that had been sitting for ten years. Car has comfort seats, and the black velour is worn so badly that the seat covers need to be replaced. Seats themselves are in good shape.
Can anyone recommend a source for seat covers that they have used?

Re: 1979 Euro 635 csi
So, got the refurbished calipers in and have brakes. Window wiring redone and tracks cleaned up; windows now work. Trunk latch repaired, can now open trunk without key.
Time for some road tests.

Re: 1979 Euro 635 csi
So, I removed the Whistler 2 radar detector that shreaked to high heaven each time you turn the ignition key; that got old fast. And cleaned up the wiring mess that install created. Got the bell crank cleaned up and the linkage is a little better, but the bushings on the pedal rod are shot and she w...

Agree on the Henna; really like it on this car.
Not TRXs; and yes, I did get to keep the number plate. Number plate may end up on my garage wall.

Re: 1979 Euro 635 csi
Got her up in the air, powerwashed the undercarriage, inside the wheel wells and the wheels and tires. I'd like all the current residents to vacate before the car moves inside. Brakes look really great, lots of pad left and the rotors look very good. Heck, most of the mechanical stuff on this car is...

Re: 1979 Euro 635 csi
Bought the car from the second owner, who purchased the car when stationed in Germany with the US army in 1984. His name is on the federalization plate on the door, which I think is pretty cool. I have federalization papers and a complete service history. He obviously loved this car. Car is straight...

Re: 1979 Euro 635 csi
Got the fuel tank drained, and surprisingly, the tank looks quite good. She turned over well by hand, so we pulled the fuel pump fuse, put a battery on her and she cranked over nicely. Alas, no spark. After some investigation, we found somebody had broken a tab on one of the resistors under the coil...

1979 Euro 635 csi
Buddy of mine got a call from another car nut in our local car club. The car club had run an article about his Qvale in the neighborhood magazine, and a guy in the neighborhood called him wanting to sell his car. Actually, he didn't want to sell his car, but he hasn't driven it in a decade and his w...

Hi All - I used Jay to rebuild the power steering pump on my e9. First rate work, fair price, highly recommended.
