Re: Radiator lower hose change

Thanks all very good advice - one other question. Of course no radiator cap on an e24. Once the radiator is drained radiator hose replaced and plug replaced, Is the coolant refilled via the reservoir tank with engine running and then burped as per instructions below? Great advice and very useful tha...

Radiator lower hose change

Hi the lower radiator hose on my 89 e24 has become perished and requires replacement. Is there any dos and don'ts on this job. Does the cooling system need to be completely drained or can I remove the hose and top up the system ensuring no airlocks? I have done this successfully on other cars but th...

Hi i have just replaced my distributor cap and ht leads with bmw genuine parts. Before the changeover i was having misfire problems which are now fixed. Unfortunately a new problem has arisen directly after the replacement. Driving home after the changeover i pulled up at an intersection and the eng...

Odometer incorrect

Hi

I noticed that my trip meter and odometer on my 89 e24 are running slow. Is this likely to be the nylon gear wear issue i have heard of on earlier e24s. Any other cause known?
Thanks

Re: Uneven front tyre wear

Thanks Brucey. I really appreciate your advice. My bs alarm has been going off as well but. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a good example for comparison and knowledge of E 24s in Melbourne is very limited. The points you raise are definitely worth checking out. I will let you know how the...

Re: Uneven front tyre wear

Even though I thought I had solved the tyre wear issue by replacing some worn bushings I still have excessive negative camber causing wear on the inside edge of both front tyres. Looking at the front end with the car over a pit at the wheel alignment specialists, there is no more camber adjustment a...

Re: Uneven front tyre wear

Looking back over the very helpful post replies and given that i thought the problem was sorted, i re-read brucey's reply which offers a range of possible causes. Trouble is finding someone who knows e 24s is as rare as rocking horse shit in Melbourne. Know anyone in melb brucey?

Re: Uneven front tyre wear

Unfortunately i thought i got the problem sorted but found that both front inside tyres worn down to canvas. Got the car over a pit and had a look at the wheel alignment. All spot on. Suspension specialist says that there is little to work with as far as camber adjustment is concerned and suggested ...

Re: Intermittent vibration in rev range

Thanks ken.

I had some problems with the afm a few months ago when the engine would intermittently atop idling and ran really rich on startup. a cleanup and reseat of the electronic connections fixed the problem. The afm xould be the culprit.

Intermittent vibration in rev range

My 89 e24 has an intermittent problem with a vibration which feels like the engine drops to 5cylinders very quickly. Tye engine starts drives and idles fine. When you give it some gas and the transmission kicks down a slight vibration and lag as the engine juos into a higher rev range. This usully h...
