Re: bmw m635 itb,s

If it's the yellow caps I think you mean, aren't they intended to be single use only? And wasn't there something about new ones were invariably blue and therefore even with a casual glance you could see if the ITBs had been "tampered" with.

Re: 1988 M6 drivers seat control module malfunction

In my experience (in the UK) it's pretty easy, and not too expensive, to pick up a used control module. I presume this is what you're after? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175432504041?hash=item28d89792e9:g:-oIAAOSw4ChjNhlD&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoIQZbzVPIMl6T8rIli4qIVKbcTN%2FKFdmTn9eY005Xh%2FpsF9coo...

Re: 89 635csi Turn signal US vs Euro

If you look on RealOEM you should be able to see part numbers for 88/89 models versus earlier or other market cars, although my initial thinking would have been that there is no difference. Edited: looks like there is a difference of some kind between Euro and US spec cars, but very hard to tell wha...

Re: Japanese E24's Different?

The flared wheelarches are standard Highline and rear headrests too. Also leather on Highlines that I'm familiar with was generally two tone (but I think black is probably single tone).

But what does see rather bit odd for a Japanese market car is that it's left hand drive!

Re: Steering problems

Have you actually tried changing your wheels front to back? It's amazing how often doing such a simple thing will make a difference ie highlight some kind of issue with a wheel or tyre. Also, did you change your front wheel bearings or other components in the hub areas? I assume someone has grabbed ...

Re: Brake Pad recommendation for early E24

What's wrong with OE pads? Read the earlier post! So if I go to a BMW main dealer I can't get rear brake pads? EBC products in general have generally had the most dreadful reputation with both Redstuff and Greenstuff in my experience always been regarded as laughable. That said, for what they are b...

msoft wrote: Sat Oct 15, 2022 12:31 pm Agree. Axle diameter is 22mm but very few list the diameter so it is difficult to find any universal option.
22mm for the rod diameter seems quite a lot?

But if true, how about these?

Re: Rubber absorber for series 1

The aspect that really needs to be like for like is the diameter of the centre hole and which in turn will match the diameter of the damper rod. But I'm afraid I don't know how universal the rod diameters are across different models. If you can find and alternative version that fits, strictly speaki...

Re: Coolant Overheating Issues

Since you’ve replaced the fan clutch and thermostat, and since the radiator has sat unflushed for 8 years (and is likely many years older than that), a new radiator is the next step. I understand this suggestion, but why wouldn't a blockage cause overheating issues constantly rather than just as an...

Hi Ralph, Thanks for your reply. My '83 OBC does have the ability to set and require a code before it will start, but I am not sure if the antitheft and alarm are part of it. You are correct that when the OBC failed it did default to being able to start the car. Other than replacing the OBC, I'm no...

Re: Low Beam Headlight Fixing

The trouble with that plan is that the wipers sweep to the bottom edge of the screen already. They just don’t park there. As mentioned the swept area is good. It’s just the park position that’s off. In which case my guess is that the wiper motor itself is faulty. Is is any different if you select a...

Talking of wipers: Is there a way to adjust the park position of the windscreen wipers? I’m loathed to move the arms as the sweep is perfect. Park however seems to be a good inch and a half up from the lowest point of sweep Should be easy enough. Just flip up the cover at the pivot end, undo the nu...

So are you saying that when you locate the headlight unit on to the three round ended posts it's still loose? They should push home and stay there. It's not unusual for the cups to get damaged but yours look ok to me.

So are you now suggesting that it's possible to save both the screen and the rubbers? Many, many years ago (ie last century!!) It's funny you should say that Phil - I put complete M suspension on this car before changing to Eibachs because the ride height was comedically high.
