Re: (not affiliated) euro '78 633csi in WA

that's the E21 320is and M1 wheel. It's pretty desirable. Nice spot.

Did the early cars not come with belts? My '78 had rear belts, iirc.

Re: Air flow sensor issue?

if this car previously had the selectable mode transmission (4HP22EH), there is a whole transmission control unit that is probably partially unplugged, confused and scared, somewhere under your dashboard.

Re: Paint Estimate?

I've recently been in to a local shop to ask. They quoted me $5500 if I bring the car to them completely stripped of all exterior parts and glass removed.

Re: Rear trunk spoiler maintenance

If it's just faded, back to black or a similar restoration product will work.

for spoilers that are really bad (cracked, faded, bits ripped out) I've had decent luck restoring them by filling with a rubber filler and painting with Plasti-dip.

sanded completely and primed. These will need to be lightly blocked out before I put some paint on them. Plan is to prep them, the rear spoiler, and the front spoiler all together, then find a paint shop to shoot them. https://i.imgur.com/DyoKmmZ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/yTBDPHD.jpg What's the latest...

Not dead yet. Getting the rear world bumper pods sanded and ready for paint and fitup.

I got some stickers custom made by Pukar and had the same thing. We went back and forth on spelling and phrasing a bunch. The end result was perfect, though!

FB has been very scammy recently. 100% of the responses to my WTB ads have been highly targeted scams.

Ask for photos that show the current date and the person's face.

Re: Lapis Rescue - '83 633csi - euro conversion starting July '22

I've finally gotten all four Hayashis to seal. Along the way, I rebuilt them fully a total of eight times. I'm not sure if this means that I'm good at it now, or bad at it in general. Along the way, I've found the easiest way to apply RTV - use the tire balancer and just spin the wheel! https://i.im...

Yup, I can do white on black.

Thank you for the interest, folks! I think this is enough to do a small run. I'll post back with results.

sounds like two possibilities:
- bad pulse/ref sensors
- (improbably, but I've heard of it happening) flywheel tossed out the pin that those sensors trigger on

FS Feeler: shift boots

Hi folks, I've recently gotten into a bit of a machine sewing hobby. So far, I've been making shift boots and ebrake boots for my hooptie fleet (fun, straightforward, and rewarding), as well as experimenting with steering wheel recovers (time consuming and mixed results so far). I'd like to post up ...

Re: HELP - Fuel Problem

note that the pump turning on may not necessarily mean that you are getting fuel. The pressure feed line may have come off the pump chassis, or the actual impeller may have disintegrated.

check your fuel pressure.

I like the stripes!

qq - where did you source new hardware for attaching the front valence, the bumper, and the rubber strips? From what I can tell, the square-head bolts are now NLA.

glad you found and fixed a variety of issues!

I’ve run a car before that was misfiring so bad that the cat turned red hot from afterburning all the in burned fuel. It was 100% fine after I fixed the misfiring issue. I wouldn’t worry about a plugged cat until the other issues were sorted.

Two quickies. 1 - we've had a mystery strut brace laying around the shop for a few years. It never fit any of the cars we tried to fit it on (e30, e28, e31, e36), so it was tossed into a corner and forgotten about. Turns out it's for an E24  anyone know who made this one? https://i.imgur.co...

Oof. Hopefully something simple, and it sounds electrical. If you’d like to swap over ECUs or sensors, my ‘83 is parked up for a bit and doesn’t need them short term.

Re: M635 Front Air Dam removal/de-federalization advice needed

That is a more thoroughly done federalization than mine was. However, the process should be pretty similar. I borrowed a friend's plasma cutter and cut around the welds to separate the federalization bar from the bumper. Then, with it loose and moved out of the way, I was able to unbolt one of the b...

Burning oil would lead to blueish smoke. White on startup (but not when warm) is water smoke, which can come from just condensation in the exhaust, as water vapor is a combustion byproduct.
