Re: Anti-roll (sway) bars

there is a torsion on the trunk floor when the bar is sprung. I haven't heard of it happening to E24/E28s, but tearing out rear subframe mounts is not uncommon on E30s with a moderately uprated bar.

Nice save!! Sounds like getting it running wasn't too bad at all, and the chassis is save-able.

I have a euro '80 shell that I'm getting ready to recycle, let me know if you need anything out of it.

call La Jolla Independent to see if they have the rings available. They were able to source a 1st oversize set for me, which is even harder to find than a std set.

no major updates, but a film camera enthusiast randomly snapped a photo of the car out on the street recently and it got some exposure on the 'gram :)

Mine is very similar to bob’s but says duro-glas on it. Roundel present. Sounds like sigla was a later supplier.

I have a parts car with clean original glass, but it's a bit away from me. Will update when I get a photo of the driver's door glass stamping.

They start out semi-gloss and get pitted by road debris and brake dust pretty quick.

Re: Wheel decisions?!?!!

16 is a good size, and some nice wheels come up from time to time. Would recommend to find the Rare Wheel Awareness FB group and see if any 5x120 wheels there match your interests.

I'm enjoying my 16" Hayashi Fins :D

Bob was right. I had a fun weekend  Back went on. This required cutting into the pre-world-bumper foam a little for clearance. I don't mind, as I'm on the hunt for a world rear bumper anyway. https://i.imgur.com/dZwNssD.jpg Front went on too. No surprises here. https://i.imgur.com/No4U7at.j...

Good idea, will check there. Minor updates - got the front valence cleaned up and primed in flexible primer. Everything is off at a body shop now getting finalized and painted. https://i.imgur.com/lkoo7bw.jpg https://i.imgur.com/3ga7Z2Z.jpg https://i.imgur.com/kHTo2FQ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Fb52ebd...

that's the E21 320is and M1 wheel. It's pretty desirable. Nice spot.

Did the early cars not come with belts? My '78 had rear belts, iirc.

if this car previously had the selectable mode transmission (4HP22EH), there is a whole transmission control unit that is probably partially unplugged, confused and scared, somewhere under your dashboard.

I've recently been in to a local shop to ask. They quoted me $5500 if I bring the car to them completely stripped of all exterior parts and glass removed.

Re: Rear trunk spoiler maintenance

If it's just faded, back to black or a similar restoration product will work.

for spoilers that are really bad (cracked, faded, bits ripped out) I've had decent luck restoring them by filling with a rubber filler and painting with Plasti-dip.

sanded completely and primed. These will need to be lightly blocked out before I put some paint on them. Plan is to prep them, the rear spoiler, and the front spoiler all together, then find a paint shop to shoot them. https://i.imgur.com/DyoKmmZ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/yTBDPHD.jpg What's the latest...
