Re: OBC immobiliser relay repair
just a quick update on my shark's random dying: my 84 635 euro uses OBC 1 (82-84 e24), which is different than the 85-87 OBC. unless anyone else knows, i don't believe the OBC 1 uses an OBC relay. am i correct?

Re: Main relay has to be jumped to run car
i would just buy another relay to test. always good to have extra main and fuel pump relays. the light green relay is the main relay and the black is the fuel pump relay. i have also learned that the fuel hoses on my bimmers requires frequent inspections, since they deteriorate within 1-2 years.

Re: Adding Lambda Control to a Euro ECU
very impressive work scott! with my 84 635 euro, i use an 82-84 -008 ECU that has an O2 sensor input, along with a kat to pass kalifornia emissions. i've never had my shark tested with the euro -011 ecu, since i don't know if it has an 02 sensor input, but i have never researched. not sure if this i...

Re: WTH? parasitic battery drain coming from main relay?
thanks again for helping me with this. although i have not diagnosed the parasitic battery drain...yet, that will be my next task. the good news is that i think, i hope, that i fixed the random dying issue by replacing the on-board computer that is located under the left side of the dashboard. also,...

Re: WTH? parasitic battery drain coming from main relay?
yes, i agree with you on installing a known good part to help diagnose. i do have an extra ECU and the same random dying occurs..then it starts the next day, but dies shortly thereafter. my next step is to check the on board computer relay. no fun. thanks for replying.

Re: WTH? parasitic battery drain coming from main relay?
still haven't figured out what is causing the parasitic battery drain on my car, because i now have a new random dying, and random starting issue. no spark and no fuel pressure, so it might be the OBC relay, or so i've read. need to get my car running first, before i tackle the battery drain. i will...

Re: No Start - Cranking - No Fuel - No Spark
i'd like to know how this issue was resolved. my 84 635 euro also has no spark and no fuel pressure, random dying, and also random starts...no fun. i know it's not the ECU, fuel and main relays, fuel pump, distributor cap and rotor. i checked the small gauge black/yellow wire that runs from/to the s...

Re: OBC immobiliser relay repair
thank you for posting this! my 1984 635 euro has similar symptoms; no start, but my car will randomly start, but then die within 30 seconds. i also read that if there isn't spark and power to the fuel pump, and fuel pump fuse (#11), then it could be the OBC immobiliser. i hope to get this gremlin no...

Re: WTH? parasitic battery drain coming from main relay?
yes, i thought about the possibility that i purchased the incorrect relay, which is why i shared a foto of the new/replacement light green relay. unfortunately, i threw the old relay in the trash to compare, but i do have a foto of the previous "light brown" main relay with the part number...

Re: WTH? parasitic battery drain coming from main relay?
hmmm...ok, i'm thinking that i should check the ETM to see what is in the main relay circuit, then disconnect parts to see what is triggering the main relay to connect/draw amps? does my thinking sound logical? 0.150-0.160mA parasitic draw...darn, sounds a bit overwhelming, but i will try once the r...

Re: Thoughts about 225/45/17's
225/45's are what i prefer to run on my front 17x8.5 wheels. i prefer to run a bit smaller/narrower tires for the rim width to keep the steering a bit more nimble. keep in mind that wheel offset is most important here and affects the position of the wheel/tire in relation fender/strut clearance.

yes, replace ALL fuel hoses at the same time! they will fail and it will not be good. don't ask how i know. i've had to replace my fuel lines more frequently the past 6-8 years; not sure if it is the quality of the fuel lines or the new fuel blend in CA. no fun.

if the car still has the orignal bosch, then get it rebuilt. autozone and o'reilly's carry the alternator, so they are farily easy to order.

WTH? parasitic battery drain coming from main relay?
hey group, long story short; i replaced the main and fuel pump relays months ago because my 84 635 euro was randomly dying. problem solved. then, whenever i wouldn't drive the car for about a week, the battery would be dead. new problem. i didn't make the connection, but i finally diagnosed the para...

Re: Intermittent stalling - main relay?
Ok, it's happened twice in two weeks. Once I was at a stoplight and the car was idling fine and then inexplicably died. I had to push it to a gas station where I popped the hood, jiggled a couple of relays and wires, then the car came back alive. Fast forward 1 week, I'm on the freeway tooling arou...

Re: main relay caused a lot of troubles for me
yes, exactly my reason for posting my experience. a friend who owns an e28 also told me that he had to replace his relays, so it is a good idea to have extras just in case. lesson learned. here is the link to the lime green relay and website that was helpful in directing me to the lime green main re...

main relay caused a lot of troubles for me
i just wanted to pass along my recent experience and troubles with my 1984 635 euro. it was randomly stalling/dying, so after diagnosing fuel pressure, testing the fuel injectors for ohms (these bosch 50 130 injectors should read around 2-3ohms), replacing the reference sensors, replacing fuel press...

Re: '83 633CSi - running so rich it stalls
figured out the random stalling/dying issue by process of elimination...it was the main relay! a $20 relay caused loads-O-worries. it wasn't the reference sensors, wasn't the fuel pressure regulator, wasn't the fuel pump, wasn't my two ECU's, wasn't the fuel pump relay...it was a simple and easy to ...

we have 8x13mm fuel hose!
thanks jps635 for the bimmerworld link. they quickly shipped me 2 meters of fuel hose and i also ordered new fuel pump and main relays. the fuel pump relay is to help diagnose a random stalling issue.

8x13mm fuel hose back ordered for over a year?
apparently, non-OEM BMW 8x13mm fuel hose has been on back order for well over a year! i just browsed a few websites and BMW Fuel Hose (1 Meter) - Genuine BMW 16121180409 is available for 49.09 per meter from FCP Euro and Turner Motorsports. not a big deal, but surprised that continental 8x13mm fuel ...

Re: '83 633CSi - running so rich it stalls
my 84 635 euro is also having random dying/stalling, and just replaced the reference sensor cables (eventhough they tested fine), replaced the fuel pressure regulator (because i have an extra), swapped the ecu (since i have both usa and euro ecu's), and my car is still stalling/dying. i will check f...
