Re: WTB: Euro bumper and valance for 1980 633

Thanks, I put the full Euro conversion on hold and will change the post accordingly. What I'm looking for now is just a air dam that will fit a 1980 US bumper. The one I have is retro bit from an '86 I believe, it's starting to crack so I'd like a back up. If what you have fits and you'd consider se...

Re: 1980 Power Steering - is mine working correctly?

It's really at very low speeds, mostly parallel parking where I have to work. It's doable but with one hand I'm using alot of muscle.

Re: 1980 Power Steering - is mine working correctly?

I'm trying to get a sense of what the steering "should" feel like,as in how close to modern PS. The only thing preventing me from declaring it a problem is my mechanic saying it was normal the first time he drove it around with me in the passenger seat.

1980 Power Steering - is mine working correctly?

Trying to figure out if I have a problem with my power steering or "that's just how it was in 1980". The car is generally in very good original condition. When I got the car and took it to a old school BMW specialist, trained in Germany in the 70s. He drove the car and when I asked about s...

Re: Wheel decisions?!?!!

My wheels are replica from Maxilite, I have the center caps but never put them on. Are they easy to get off if I try them on? There are plastic clips on the inside but it's onclear how I would get the caps off from a mounted wheel.

WTB:Air Dam for 1980 633 w/ US bumper

I'm looking for an Air-Dam for a US bumper, 1980 633. Prefer to have fog lights but would consider alternative. I have one now that's starting to crack, it's a retro fit off (I believe) a 1986 US car. If the Euro or World fits I'm fine if they bolt on relatively easy. Thanks

Re: Wheel decisions?!?!!

16s arrived and mounted waiting on stickers. 17 may have looked better but happy nonetheless, can't believe how much better the ride is on the 16s.

Re: Wheel decisions?!?!!

16 is a good size, and some nice wheels come up from time to time. Would recommend to find the Rare Wheel Awareness FB group and see if any 5x120 wheels there match your interests. I'm enjoying my 16" Hayashi Fins :D Ralph 20230328_140704.jpg What tires are you running? I ended up going with 7...

Re: Alpina replica (Maxilite) fitment - 8x17 et 15

Can you post pics of your car from the side? I want to keep a stock look and make sure larger 17s aren't too modern looking. Original B7s had staggered 16s I think. You should be fine with 235/45's on those wheels :-" I have 17 x 8 ET20 up front with 235/45's and while they are "close"...

Re: Alpina replica (Maxilite) fitment - 8x17 et 15

I don't want to have to do a single thing. I am confident 7x16 et 11 is fine but wondering if anyone has had issue with 8x17 et 15 while staying stock.

Alpina replica (Maxilite) fitment - 8x17 et 15

Was back and forth between 16 and 17s, think I'll go with 17. Was about to order replicas from Maxilite and they don't make 17x7. Will 8x17 et 15 rub in front? The shop owner where said they might, he's been a BMW mechanic since 1971! I've seen 7.5x17 but Maxilite doesn't show them on their site any...

Re: Wheel decisions?!?!!

I’m coming full circle to sticking with what I got. Didn’t think about cleaning and with the city streets and lack of self wash places sparkly pretty wheels will need a ton of care.

Re: Wheel decisions?!?!!

I’m really liking gold centers to go with safari beige on tan. The replicas and custom BBS look very highly polished. Were the original gold mesh BBS matte or is that just cuz most pictures on here cars with older wheels?

Re: Wheel decisions?!?!!

In that case I’ll stay 15 or 16, don’t want to lower the car. Prices on BBS are nuts, aside from JDM what other knock offs are there? Searches on eBay return other brands. I see the Super RS is still made new but that’s just 19” and up. Also the Rial Mesh look great in this thread: https://bigcoupe....

Re: Wheel decisions?!?!!

how do 17s affect the ride, is the lip polished? In some pics they look more modern I don’t know if it’s size or finish. Safari beige has much more vintage look than red or black, which is something I like. I now notice the RS has a stepped lip effectively making the mesh smaller in diameter maybe t...

Love this wheel thread, so helpful! Now looking at opinions for my safari beige 633. This is me right now, 15" RAs (RA right?) https://bigcoupe.com/phpBB3/download/file.php?id=34748 What's the difference between RS and RC? I see people say RS is period correct but I see no difference. 15":...
