Re: HELP - Fuel Problem
Pin 20 on the ECU controls the FP relay. Pin 14 = Fuel Injector Controls (cyl 1,2,3) PIN 15 = Fuel Injector Controls (cyl 4,5,6) I'd be surprised if it was the ECU faulting here because you've already bypassed the ECU control of the FP relay (pin 20) by manually energising the FP relay socket. Eithe...

Re: HELP - Fuel Problem
Song, I read your other post too. This sounds like a classic fuel pressure issue. Symptoms: 1. It won't start without manual pump (lack of pressure to start) 2. It starts after manually jumping the pump for 5-10secs (to pressurise the rails) 3. It dies shortly after starting (lack of pressure to kee...

Well done! Always tricky to troubleshoot an issue when your "good unit" is also faulty.

Re: Let the winter projects begin!
I have a passenger door problem as well. My problem is that the door mechanism works perfectly from the inside. But outside the car the door handle lifts OK but it doesn't activate the mechanism. Prior to this fault manifesting itself the outside door handle worked but you had to progressively use ...

Re: Instrument Cluster Light Upgrade
I've upgraded some of the lights in my dash cluster to LED. The main overhead lights are a simple T10 wedge. I used these: https://www.stedi.com.au/2-pack-t10-w5w-wedge-led-light-28mm.html Many other brands exist, but make sure you get a good quality CANBUS compatible model - CANBUS models will supp...

Re: Crank, no spark. Maiden voyage cut short
I also managed to pick up another 059 DME ECU from a local guy on FB marketplace. I took a gamble on his untested unit for $100 and it works fine. I've reflowed the solder on all the power transistor and resistor joints now, and have put it on my shelf as a future spare. If they start to get too exp...

Re: WTB Single Wire O2 sensor connector
Most (read: nearly all) O2 sensors can be divided into 2 groups. Group 1: Wide-band sensors 5 wire = 2 sensor wires + dedicated ground wire + 2 wires for a heating element. Generally used for modern cars. Not compatible with E24's ECU. Group 2: Narrow-band Sensors All Bosch O2 sensors use the same t...

The car may have been in Japan at some stage of it's life, but it is definitely not a Japanese market car. Japan is RHD, this car is LHD. The number plate indicates that it is (or was at some stage) with Al Hai Motors in Dubai. UAE is a LHD country. https://www.facebook.com/AlHaiMotors Can't tell yo...

Re: Another problem with central locking
I saw that there is no such switch on the left / driver's side. I was surprised. Am I right that someone removed it for some unknown reason and that's why the central locking doesn't work as it should? Yes and No. Yes, it appears that the Left side deadlock switch may have been removed for some rea...

Re: Another problem with central locking
Not quite. That switch senses the overlock (deadlock) function. The only thing is does is disable the central locking electronics when you turn the key 90° to deadlock. You'll notice that turning the key 45° to lock will not trigger the switch. The central locking servo for each door is located at t...

Re: Odometer gears
They sold me (and others) defective gears, and it was downhill from there. (The gears were defectively made because one of them was missing the “collar” or spacer on it, which made it so that when you assembled it, it initially worked. But within a few miles the missing collar/spacer allowed the ge...

Re: 1984 633CSi Rises again!
Song, you can install the thicker fan clutch without removing the whole radiator.
Remove the rubber bushings of the radiator mount and it will allow you to push the radiator body forward to give you enough clearance for the fan hub.
