Scissor hoists

Post by baders »

Just wondering what experiences people have with mid lift scissor hoists ? I have a lot of work to do yet on LOCUTUS so need something better than trolley jacks and stands. Was looking at this one;

http://www.aaq.net.au/product/autolift- ... pplication

Advice appreciated !

I’ve considered these on the past, but they don’t look particularly safe to use. I wouldn’t like to get under a car sitting on one.

Just my 2c.

This has a decent list of positive reviews.
I've seen many at track days in NY. and CT.

Although Quickjack is owned by Bendpak, these do not seem to be certified by the automotive Lift Institute (www.autolift.org) while their Ranger scissor lifts were certified. Maybe never submitted? Maybe failed? Maybe not engineered sufficiently? Dunno. Suggest a bit more research before you put your butt or brainbucket under one.

The Qickjack would be too low for me at only 500mm maximum lift. Another issue is any lift would need to be in Perth as it's exorbitant to ship. Going down to check out the AAQ one in a few days.

I posted about the Atlas I bought (same design). Absolutely love using it. Given limitations of renting a house, you can't beat a110V, mid-rise scissor lift. I made arm extenders, so I can lift wider vehicles, like our 530xi wagon.

Have also posted on Jose's thread about scissor lift.
You will not miss the trolley jack and axle stands, that's for sure.

I ended up going with a Quickjack due mostly to lack of space and height in my garage for anything else. Super impressed with the quality of gear and instructions.
