WANTED: Getrag 260 Gearbox

Post by smtguy »

Need Getrag 260 for my '83 633csi. I either need one in good shape ready to go, or someone to rebuild mine.
Suggestions appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott

Pertinent information

https://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=61367

I have one but unfortunately I'm in Seattle area this week, back later next week.

Though I know there's one in the parts pile, it has not been evaluated one bit. Removed from the scrapped car then put on the shelf. I'm good at evaluating a Trans on the bench but I'm not 100%.

Of course all 3 seals should be replaced prior to install. Replacing those along with the rear main seal are recommended

Don't forget that bmw, for m30 engines, have a spacer that is available to install prior to the rear main seal installation that can space out the crank seal a bit to prevent it running on the old wear line on the crank from the old seal. Amazing but true!

Hi Ralph,
I am interested in your used gearbox option. Please let me know if you think the one you have is in decent shape and if so what you would want for it.
Thank you,
Scott
