Lessons Learnt:
- Despite several professional (and annual) inspections, pretty much every original bushing and ball joint was shot.
- Front shocks were both leaking.
- Need to figure out what's going on with the new Swaybar bushings. Apparently the Vaico ones supplied are too tight to fit the 19mm OE swaybar.

Agreed, those wheels are so much better.
Car looks very very clean too. No wipers!
I don't think I've seen chrome trim over the wheel arches on an E24 before. I've seen chrome guards, usually on the Series 1 cars, but not trim like yours.

Looks great Tim. Those were some really.... interesting wheels indeed. I have style 5's which I like, but they are a little common. The Alpina's really work. Paint looks wonderful - is that a respray?

No wipers: Well spotted MrE!
They were removed for repairs and reconditioning (gaskets, plastic caps, repaint the arms, etc) and will go back on the car shortly.
The chrome wheel arch trims are interesting. I'm not sure if they were installed by a PO, or as a dealer fitted accessory.
I don't think they are OEM, but I kinda like them.

Re: All new dancing gear - What a difference!
Thanks Scott.
I know the lineage of the ugly wheels - They were installed by the PO (my late mother in law) when she couldn't justify the replacement cost of the original TRX tyres. I still have the 390mm TRX wheels in my garage, but they're not much use to anyone.
Going by the date and location on the purchase receipt, I don't think she had a wide choice of wheels. She would have chosen the least-worse option needed to pass the annual registration safety inspection.
Yes, The car appears to have been resprayed at some point in its life, because it now has some clear coat peeling in various places along one side.
My understanding is that they did not come from the factory with a clear coat, so it must have been a respray.
