Need RHD mirror for Lincoln MARK 3

Post by 86_6series »

There is no right side mirror available for a LHD Mark 3. A possible solution
is finding a mirror where the car was delivered to a RHD country. I was thinking
that someone in a RHD country would have more success than me doing a search from the US.

If anyone could give that a try, it would be very much appreciated.

Not trying to dissuade any potential leads for you, but did Lincoln even make any factory RHD vehicles?
Here in Australia, nearly all the Lincolns and Cadillacs (that I've seen) of that era are LHD imports, or custom RHD conversions.

Lincoln was never (to my knowledge) sold directly to the Australian market.

Good luck with your search.

Bob, please clarify. You want a right hand mirror, correct? Your pictures show a left side mirror, I assume for comparison?

Yes, the left hand is for comparison.

I was @ Hershey PA for the AACA Nationals and
a guy stopped by and said that the right hand door molding he removed on his had
the holes for the mirror and the adjusting cable.

Someone else thought that a right hand mirror was shipped to RHD countries.
I'm thinking there weren't that many sent overseas and then were converted to RHD.

But, I thought I'd give a shout out to see if there was a chance I was wrong.

TimU, was a LHD required to be converted to RHD?

Thanks for the feedback.

If you can find out which (if any) RHD countries Lincoln was exported to from the factory, that might narrow-down your target search area.

Not for Classic/Vintage cars, no. They can be registered and driven under a Conditional Registration scheme.

Thanks guys,

I just found out there were no right side mirrors manufactured for 1969 to 1971 Mark 3's.
In 1972, the Mark 4 had a right side mirror. The mounting location on the doors are different between the 3 & 4.

I'll find a way to fabricate the 72 mirror on the passenger door.

Next time I'll do more homework instead of listening to some guy who thinks he knows it all.

Thanks again
