Ventilation

Post by swedishshark »

Hi, First post.

I have just acquired a '83 635 CSi - pretty sorted. No rust etc but I am starting my learning journey. I have been browsing but can't seem to find an answer to my question.

My heater seems to be a bit tempremental - it will blow hot but then seems to go cold (before coming hot again) - any hints as to where I should look to see where the problem might be?

Also - I can only get outside air through the vents above the heater controls/dash vents. Is this normal or have a got a connection missing somewhere behind the dash?

Thanks in advance for any nuggets.

Cheers'

Do a search and find a copy of your owner manual. Lots of explanations of how your car functions.

Good luck!

Sounds like a bad heater control valve. They work well at idle and not while driving.

Consider replacing it with alternative solutions like the e46 one, the OEM and aftermarket of the e28/e24 ones are awful.
