Let the winter projects begin!
My rear passenger window is stuck in the down position.
And my driver’s side door doesn’t open
Any tips / well wishes before I begin?

Isn't there a plug in the rear door card that will reveal where you can insert a manual winder?
And the door will not open from either inside or outside?
Good luck
Phil

Yeah, I didn't explore too much but you're right there's a plug which I popped out where it looks like I can access the manual winder.
Correct, I can't open from either side. The door handles feel as though they're in the lock position. Assuming I'll have to remove some of the interior pieces on the B pillar, so I can then remove the door card to see what's going on with the locking mechanism.

You'll need to loosen the nut around the crank point or you can't move the winder. I learned that the hard way.

Re: Let the winter projects begin!
I have a passenger door problem as well.
My problem is that the door mechanism works perfectly from the inside.
But outside the car the door handle lifts OK but it doesn't activate the mechanism.
Prior to this fault manifesting itself the outside door handle worked but you had to progressively use more force to open the door until at last it just stopped working. It always felt to me that the door handle was slowly going out of adjustment with the mechanism and that the remedy would be to reset the handle activation to the lock mechanism...is this something that can be adjusted ?
Any pointers would be helpful as I detest taking off the door cards as they are so flimsy

Well, thanks to my brake M/C leaking, I have decided to also remove the brake vacuum booster so that I can refinish it, and replace the steering coupler as well, now that I can get to it
Here's a couple of "before" pix, I'll start a new thread once I get back to work, been dragging my feet due to it being on the cool side, even here in CA

It's probably just a nut on the latch that's come loose.sideshowbob wrote: ↑Mon Dec 12, 2022 6:44 pm I have a passenger door problem as well.

I made a YouTube video of the lock mechanism that should help you identify the problematic part.

I reckon it's this nut here:

GRNSHRK,
What material did you use to wrap the firewall harness?

That's factory, I didn't wrap it with anything, just added those cool blue tie wraps
All of the harnesses are still in very good shape, save some rewrapping with hockey tape, given their 42 years of service, so far

Re: Let the winter projects begin!
I never noticed that before. My US 86 has the usual black fiber wrapping.
I'm going to try and fabricate a sleeve like you have, such a nice look.

Re: Let the winter projects begin!
The trick is getting the sleeve over the connectors
Easy peasy when done at the factory
You could slit the sleeve and hold it in place with said tie wraps, and hope that you can't see the slit, I guess
Ya know, while series 1 and series 2 6ers may look the same, they are really vastly different cars

Re: Let the winter projects begin!
Will definitely have to slit to cover the harness.
