Coolant level connector
My clip has just crumbled and does not lock any more causing it to come loose and low coolant lite.
Tried several mcGyver tricks but not found permanent fix.
If anyone has one that locks onto sensor with few inches of wire attached for soldering let me know.
Thx

Sorry, mine doesn't look like that. It just has straight blades.

Re: Coolant level connector
If you are willing to perhaps splice and/or solder, you might try Tyco products and see whether they have a housing that would suit your needs. This may seem odd, but remember that BMW does not make the senders - they buy them from VDO. So there should be a variety of plugs that fit onto the sender.
I took a wild guess at your pin sizes and came up with this, which looks pretty close. It even has a clip to hold onto the tab on your sender:
https://www.te.com/usa-en/product-1337245-3.html
I started with this page, which provides the full catalog of automotive connectors. https://www.te.com/usa-en/plp/automotiv ... Y30Dy.html. Under housing type, I searched for recepticle and for mating pin diameter I checked all the options between 1 and 2 mm. For connector system, I selectd both wire to component and wire to device. Lastly, I selected 2 for number of positions. There is a huge amount of detail in the documents linked to this page, including detailed dimensional drawings, that you can use to evaluate whether this might work.
To refine what I found, you might measure your pin size and pin centerline (distance between pin centers).
If you go this route, you might also want to buy new female connectors to go into your new housing as this will be much easier than trying to remove the old ones and fit them into a different housing.

Thanks for website,
I’ll look into it but seems like a big trial n error process.
Easier if someone has a parts car with one intact.
We shall see.

Re: Coolant level connector
Thanks but not really.
My lock goes over the top to back side of level sensor. That one has side press.
Can’t see it in my pics because it’s no longer there just crumbled when pulled it off.

Re: Coolant level connector
Hello Paul. I have an e34 connector that's very similar. Just a little longer than the e24 unit. All intact with enough wire for splices. PM your ship to and it will go out soon

PM sent
As long as it clips onto sensor I am good with it.
Be good to get rid of that pesky coolant light.
Thanks

Re: Coolant level connector
That level sender looks like the same as the 90s bmws.
So e32/34/31/36 all should use that style of plug in a few places, particularly the level sender. I'd start there. Ralph is right on it as usual from a glance.

THANK YOU for all the direction to resolve my simple but irritating issue
I am going to wait for Ralph’s e34 plug and see if that fits n report back.

Re: Coolant level connector
I would buy the housing from Pelican parts. It is highly likely that all of the cars that use that same style of plug (per post above, in addition to the e24; the e32/34/31 & 36) all use the same VDO sender. If so, the Pelican housing will clip onto the VDO sender.
No cutting of wires, no soldering, far less chance of messing up the electrical connections.

Re: Coolant level connector
Again thanks all.
Received Ralph’s e34 connector, bit of soldering and all good.
The e34 part looks exactly like the pelican part pic. Who knows maybe the e34’s connector had been replaced with the pelican part?
Thought about just opening the connector up and just installing my females but didn’t want to break connector trying to open it and my females were loosy goosy anyway .
