Wiring a Backup Camera
I need to run a wire for backup camera that goes from the rear-view mirror to the rear license plate. Anyone done this before? Recommendations for the path of least resistance to the trunk?

Re: Wiring a Backup Camera
Without having done it myself, I would have thought that running the wiring overhead through the headliner, alongside top of the door jam and down the C-Pillar would be the path of least resistance.
I think the Right side of the car would be better, so that you can tap into any power needed via the looms for the antenna, boot lock, etc.

I would run the wire from the mirror up under the black plastic cover, down the A pillar then down drivers kick plate and feed it under the carpet to the trunk.

When I relocated the battery to the trunk, I routed the positive cable along the left hand side under the carpet, as there's actually a channel there seemingly for this purpose
Same is true for all of the stereo wiring, which I ran along the right hand side

Run it under the carpet or along the door sill. its pretty easy to remove the rear seat and then continue into the trunk.

That’s how I did mine. Very easy to remove the seat and door sill from the driver side. Run up the front window pillar and along the windshield trim. Not noticeable unless you are looking for the wire.

Re: Wiring a Backup Camera
I installed one on my wife's 2015 MB. I second going down the A pillar and under the carpet. A lot easier and more forgiving in terms of where you pull the wire. I used a wire snake used to run electrical wire behind walls for pulling the wires. Here's what I used: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Commercial- ... /301776000
As for cameras, the MB's parking lines turn with the wheels. Not sure if that would work with an e24 since I do not know how it senses wheels turning.
I'd love to see your setup.

Thanks all! Finally got around to doing this. I ran the wire along the windshield trim, down the A pillar, underneath the carpet, underneath the rear seats, and finally into the trunk.Removing the rear seats were much easier than anticipated.
