speedometer pulse generator

Post by bobbit4447 »

I believe my speedo pulse generator has failed on my 1984 csi. :(
The current item is part # 62161369906 with 2 spade terminals arranged in a "T"
There is a later model pulse generator part # 62168355008 , which appears identical except the terminals are round pins.
Can anyone tell me if they are interchangeable ? Changing to female round pins on the wiring wont be an issue. TIA Bob

Different part number may not provide the same signal as the original unit. Good luck

Per the ETM for my '84 it says:

"SPEEDOMETER SENDER
Rotating disc magnetically opens and closes switch"

That sounds to me like a magnetic reed switch as opposed to a hall sensor. If the ETM for your car reads the same I'd think it might just work. That said, I couldn't say for sure. If the part is cheap enough it might be worth a try.
