hi, still after a chain, can anybody tell me how many links in the chain, part 11311401379
after 20 emails to germany head office i finally found a guy who is interested, no chain but he sent me the original cad drawings of the chain, but it does not say number of links, seems like iwis made them, well thats what is on the title block of the drawings, so now to see if i can get someone to make it here in aust. it gives chain strength and all the necessary info., and i presume material strength is better today.
cannot find number of links anywhere, elp me out
regards
richard

Hey Richard,
did you manage to find out how many links there are for single chain (11311401379)?
If not, I will be pulling mine out in a few weeks time and can have a look at it.
Regards Bo

Don't know if you are in Victoria Australia or British Columbia Canada. But another thought, long road I know, is to convert the M88 single row chain to the S38 double row chain. That's assuming the S38 parts are more readily available than the M88 parts. I have pics and parts invoices from when I did the conversion many years back. I may also still have the original chain. I'll go check.

No luck on the original chain. I passed it to the new owner when I sold the car. It had 52K miles in 2006 when I converted it to a double row chain.

Re: Re:bmw m635 timing chain
It seems to be 126 links. Still need to confirm with looking at my own chain.
Re: Re:bmw m635 timing chain
hi, yes it has 126 links, 1981 380 sl merc. has same chain but more links, if you can reduce links to 126 and properly press the chain together you will have a new chain, my engine builder has managed to get a chain for me and i have after all these months managed to get a spare for myself, head is completly finished, new valves and all the rest, new pistons, rings, honed, engine will be brand new, even with the spare chain if anything ever happens to the engine i will go to the double chain, all these parts are available for this conversion, thanks for your replies,
