Amazing that the Kia driver survived, but it wasn't lug nut failure that caused this incident. See attached screenshot. The entire hub, brake disc and wheel came off. The lug nuts were still holding the wheel to the hub assembly. Probably the spindle nut came off, at least that's my guess. It would be interesting to see what became of the brake caliper. That had to fail also to allow the whole assembly to depart.
