Alpina replica (Maxilite) fitment - 8x17 et 15

Post by Nick_from_Brooklyn »

Was back and forth between 16 and 17s, think I'll go with 17. Was about to order replicas from Maxilite and they don't make 17x7. Will 8x17 et 15 rub in front? The shop owner where said they might, he's been a BMW mechanic since 1971!

I've seen 7.5x17 but Maxilite doesn't show them on their site anymore and not sure how much diff that would make anyway.

Also recommendation on tires appreciated. I keep the car in my warehouse at work and lots of nails so thinking I'll get run flats. I patch the tires on my daily every other month. which is also why I don't want to go staggered in case I need to replace.

Thaks for help, here are the wheels:

I am running 245x 17 style 5s with the car lowered The offset is 20 and it doesn't rub the struts. So those should clear a lot with a 15 offset. My concern is if it will rub the inner edge of the fender. If that is the case you will probably have to roll the lip of the fender. 225's should work without a problem.

I don't want to have to do a single thing. I am confident 7x16 et 11 is fine but wondering if anyone has had issue with 8x17 et 15 while staying stock.

You should be fine with 235/45's on those wheels :-"

I have 17 x 8 ET20 up front with 235/45's and while they are "close" to the struts, no rubbing

I have even thought about spacers up front, maybe 10 mm or so, to bring the wheels out a bit, so I also doubt that fender rubbing will be an issue [-o<

Can you post pics of your car from the side? I want to keep a stock look and make sure larger 17s aren't too modern looking. Original B7s had staggered 16s I think.

I own these for my shark and am very happy with them.
No rubbing at the front, even at full lock on lowered suspension.

No spacers or anything, just a 8" straight set all around.

17x8 Alpina reps from Maxilite (ET+15 offset) with 235/45 R17 Falken FK50 tyres.
