e24 Radio and CD Changer Question

Hi Guys,

I am wanting to add a CD changer to my 1988 M6 and want to know what I am getting into before I go down this road. The car has the original a KE-81zbm installed in the car and from what I understand the KE-83zbm has CD changer capability while the 81 does not. My question is, can I simply install a KE-83 (and additional wiring for the changer) in its spot so I can run a factory CDX-M90zdm changer?
