I bought one of these and still have not fitted it.

My garage wouldn't fit it as it entailed drilling out the hole in the lower subframe hole.

I was led to believe it was a 'tight' friction fit.

When the car was up on the ramp I had a look at how it fitted and had to agree with my mechanic, the discrepancy in diameters was measurable in millimetres !!

Has any one else had to drill out or file out the lower hole.

A bit disappointed

Had to solve problem by garage doing an awkward welding job on top fitting.

Mine went in, years ago, with a small ball peen hammer. Tapping not going neanderthal on it. Drove the car for a while before welding it with no issues.

Has anyone heard that Ed is still selling these?
I emailed him a couple of weeks ago, but no reply yet.

Long awaited update #-o

I spoke to Ed last night and we are making arrangements to have the plans/drawings available after making a "small" donation to the Big Coupe website \:D/

Brian is working on getting the donation button working again and once that's up and running, I'll get the drawings from Ed and we will handle this on a "one at a time" basis until if/when we can make the process automated. For the short term, once the donation is made, Brian would notify me and I would send out the drawings directly, most likely using email :-"

Ed was talking about even providing the lathe program, not sure about that, however :-k

More to follow, we will put up this info as a sticky \:D/

This is good news. Great to hear that Ed is ok and back on deck again, and that obtaining a kit is looking possible. Been following this for a while and hoping a fix would appear. Count me in for a donation for the drawings!

Thanks, Nathan

That's a nice piece from I.E

I can actually make this at home on my lathe, so will give it a shot.

Not sure. I have the mwrench in mine.

Their website did have it listed under

E28/Late E24 Suspension & Steering

...but I haven't confirmed

At long last, we have come to a final solution to the supply of the Mwrench steering box reinforcement kits =D>

They are currently available for immediate shipment from the following shop, located in San Mateo, CA :-"

Name: The Studio Presents
PH: 408-596-9189
Email: info@thestudiopresents
Instagram: TheStudioPresents
Website: https://www.thestudiopresents.com/

The price for the kit is a very reasonable $60 (USD) plus sales tax (this is CA, you know  ) and applicable shipping, which they estimate to be around $10 for domestic delivery and $25 for international shipments :-"

My apologies in advance for this process to take so long, but please note that Ed has had some medical issues, got things resolved and was able to nail down what he considers a reputable shop to take over the reins \:D/

If you do indeed contact them, please let them know that you are a member of Big Coupe 8)
