I've been contemplating getting some of this expensive plastic resurfacing paint for a while. I considered the other options but having used other Eastwood paints have found them not to disappoint - and I'm not disappointed this time ether. Works very well indeed so recommended! Photos show cleaned trim before and after...

Question, how did you get the "gills" off please? I will assume pry gently at either the top or bottom? Or maybe the side? Thanks in advance.

The paints about £35 here in the UK. I took the trims off as part of a full restoration but I think it was quite easy... As I remember - pull out the door seal, remove three screws...but maybe there was more to it?

I restored mine without paint.
Just progressively finer sandpaper then a meguires paint polish compound.

How fine sandpaper did you use at the beginning and at the end?

At some point next summer, I am going to use SEM products to restore my e24 and e32 plastic parts. I will post pics at that time.

If I remember correctly , there are 3 screws behind door weatherstripping , just pull back to expose them. I believe that’s all fasteners. Just wiggle it out if I remember.

Mine were badly pitted thus the sandpaper routine.
Something like 320 then progressively finer till I got scratches out and a polish would shine them up .
If yours aren’t so badly pitted start finer
Fold paper around popsicles stick or the like.

Any auto polish would probably work. Usually always have Meguire’s & 3M on hand using same popsicle stick or similar .

I did my family Volvo SUV with the Eastwood plastic restorer and it did a great job. It's about $30 a can. I did mine at the end of 2018 and even today (2023) it still looks good! Here's a picture of the process. It's like painting parts of the car, but does a much better job than just regular paint.
Here's the whole side afterwards. I am thinking of doing this to my shark this summer. The problem is some of my plastic parts are a bit deformed or shrunk due to age. I am on the lookout for parts in better shape and then I'll refinish it.
