rusty, I guess you are going to sand down the taped edges
Guess that's a bit easier with single stage paint, at least
Can you please share who did your steering wheel
And thanks for sharing, impressive work, as usual

My steering wheel was done by Cy-Fair Upholstery here in Houston, TX
Any yes, the edge will be feathered with 300-grit (using water).
I used my HVLP gun to shoot the paint.

Got around to taking off the hideous heavy chrome wheels that came on the car when I bought it and fitted some cool period correct 16" staggered (8" and 9") Centras. The tires I fitted are Toyo R888
I also replaced the broken rear side marker lenses with a pair of NOS that I found online and fitted new tail lights and gaskets (that was expensive!)
I also replaced the rear bumper that was rusting and quite badly pitted and fitted a good spare that I had. Powder coated the bumper brackets and fitted all new fasteners. I also refinished the black plastic wrap-around panel that sits between the bumper and the tail lights.
And some new floor mats.

You are a hard worker Yasin. Great to follow your updates.
Those taillights, but certainly also those taillight frames, are expensive, if you can get them at all.
Keep up the good work!

Thank you Paul, I so appreciate the kind words. When I look at this car, I feel like I knock one thing off the list and add two.
I am enjoying all the work and seeing the improvements on the car since my purchase. Next, I will be focusing on the suspension and chassis, but want to get out and drive it for a while before tearing into it again). Its aching to be exercised.
Bob - Here's the link to the floor mats. They are hand made to order and takes just under 4 weeks to get, they are made and shipped from Germany. Great quality and feel.

Here's a fun but easy project. The spring steel clips that secure the license plate lights will tend to fatigue and break over time. This has happened to me twice now on two (2) different E24s. You can make a new set in a few minutes. I took thin wall aluminum flat stock cut with my metal tin snips, folded it in half and then drilled the hole. Perfect fit and no worries that your license plate light will hang down in the future..

Sunday afternoon work.
Had a bit of surface rust on the inside of the trunk and it was also dusty / grimy, so sanded, primed and painted and then then detailed it everything else.

When I bought my car, the trunk (boot) interior tail light panel was sitting broken in many pieces inside the car.
I decided to stitch it back together using fiberglass, overall not bad and it is good and strong now and best part re-fitted. Maybe in the future I can reproduce it, as its only multi-ply cardboard and carpet and some glue.

Re: Returning With A Neat Find: 1984 M635CSi
When I bought my car last year it had lived for many years in the Arizona desert then Texas heat and the dash took a beating.
I decided to tackle repairing these dash cracks using Polyvance Dash Pad Filler ($30) and then I had a friend air brush and blend. While it is not perfect..it is 100% better and much less of an eye sore.

I asked about the dye, he has tried several brands.86_6series wrote: ↑Sun Mar 06, 2022 3:21 pm Looks great. I'm going to do mine. What product did your friend air brush with?
He said that the SEM was not all that good, so he now uses a proprietary dye made by Dr. Vinyl designed for use on leather and plastics.
