Brake reservoir to master cylinder gaskets special tool need for install?? (SOLVED)

Post by KINGJOHN808 »

Aloha all.

I’ve been struggling with my brake reservoir to master cylinder for a few hours. Is there some sort of tool or trick to putting the two back together?

I tried putting the rubber gaskets on the master cylinder first, then pressing the reservoir on. No dice. I then tried putting the gaskets on the reservoir first, then pressing them onto the master cylinder. Again, didn’t work.

Removed the master cylinder from the car thinking maybe it’s a leverage thing. Still can’t get these two items joined together. Tried “lubing” both items by dipping the gaskets in brake fluid, all that did was make everything slippery. Is there some sort of tool that I need or what? The gaskets came from “Pelican Parts” a few days ago. Part #: 34-31-1-103-205-M4

Are there different sizes or is this just a standard part?

Mahalo’z in advance.

Okay guys. Here’s the “skinny”. After digging through my “broken and repaired parts” box, found the original brake reservoir gasket/grommet. Compared with what Pelican Parts sent, they are not even close.

This is the second time I’ve went off the website and even speaking with “tech support” that they have sent me the wrong parts. Their shipping may be cheaper, but customer service is severely lacking.

Worst part is once you open the package, (I have since thrown the packaging away) realize it won’t fit (considered to be installed) you get the run around about “we can’t take back a part once it’s installed” Jazz. I’m going to chock this up as another “learning experience”. That being said, have lost all confidence In Pelican Parts.

The part number from REALOEM is 34311116692 or 34311160133.

Hoping I can source out one locally, worse case it will be a dealership thing.

Aloha gang!

Pelican and FCP Euro have been my go-to parts sources for many years, but within the last two years I've gotten more wrong parts than correct. And every time, even after consulting with their tech support, it's been the parts numbers they agreed were "correct", ones retrieved from BMW TIS and/or REALOEM.COM. Very disappointing and frustrating.
