Hello everyone!
I recently stumbled across something new and was curious if anyone else is familiar with this.
I came across a stunning 89 635csi that was an import from Japan. Didn't think much of it except for maybe emissions at the time.
After studying the vehicle's photos I noticed a few inconsistencies (or what I had thought to be). I currently own a US spec 89 and used it as reference, so I noticed the one for sale had rear head rests, two tone interior and on the exterior it appears there are fender overlays/ flared fenders. All of which to my understanding were not available for the 88/89 model year.
My first thought was maybe this car underwent something fishy but after reviewing other Japan spec e24's it would seem they have from factory flared out fenders?? They look great and it definitely took me about the 20th time looking over the photos to notice, just seems strange to me.
Anyone who can shed some light on this, it would be greatly appreciated lol

Re: Japanese E24's Different?
The flared wheelarches are standard Highline and rear headrests too. Also leather on Highlines that I'm familiar with was generally two tone (but I think black is probably single tone).
But what does see rather bit odd for a Japanese market car is that it's left hand drive!

Re: Japanese E24's Different?
Yup, all of what you saw is correct. In the M version the Japanese car is actually called an M6 (rather than an M635CSI) and it has the S38 motor vs the European M88. This '87 also got the tighter/smaller chrome European bumpers. Here are a couple of pics of a Japanese 1987 M6 that I saw this weekend in Hilton Head, SC at the Concours show. Definitely cool.

The car may have been in Japan at some stage of it's life, but it is definitely not a Japanese market car.
Japan is RHD, this car is LHD.
The number plate indicates that it is (or was at some stage) with Al Hai Motors in Dubai. UAE is a LHD country.
