Help! Does my 1984 635 euro have an in tank fuel pump? Photo

i am in need of some help. i have an 1984 635 euro, with an 05/1984 build date, and i want to know if the car has an intank fuel pump. i have attached a link to an article that says that some euro cars do not have an intank fuel pump.

I’m pretty sure that the connector shown is for the fuel level indicator.

yes, that is what i am thinking as well. in the link that i attached, my 1984 635 euro has #4, which is a suction tube, and not an intank fuel pump. i know i can remove it to verify, but i just wanted to check here, so i can proceed with fuel pressure diagnosis.

anyone else have experience/knowledge with the euro cars that have these single, external fuel pumps? does the car really need an intank fuel pump? it has worked well, until recently.

yes, realoem shows an intank fuel pump, which is my reason for my question. since there is only one opening in the tank, it seems like some euro cars have the suction tube #4, and some cars have the pre-pump #7. my 1984 euro 635 has #4 only. i find it interesting that some euro cars do not have an intank fuel pump. the article in the link that i attached, verifies that some euro cars do not have an intank fuel pump.

my car has worked well, until recently. so, now i can better proceed with fuel pressure diagnosis.

that's why i'm asking the group to chime in.

Oh, I see what you're saying. Your photo shows the straight tubes indicating no prime pump.

yes, it is confusing. i've owned this car for over 20 years, and did not know that it did not have an intank fuel pump. in a way, this is a good thing because it is a simpler and easier system, along with it being easier to diagnose fuel delivery issues, so i just wanted to check in with the group.
